Fiber internet deals

What's the best fiber internet deal?

The best fiber internet deal is Verizon Fios's Internet 300/300 plan. It gives you excellent speeds of 300 Mbps for just $39.99 per month. That's truly a steal when it comes to fiber, the fastest and most reliable type of internet connection you can get.

Optimum has an identical plan for $10 less but Verizon has a slightly bigger fiber network and no price increase after 12 months (like Optimum), which is why we think Verizon is a better pick for most people.

What are the best fiber promotions?

AT&T always has the best promotions if you're looking to get a little something extra while shopping for fiber internet. Although sometimes you can get a reward card for signing up, this month the main promo is a 6-month trial of Google Stadia Pro at no extra cost when you sign up for a qualifying fiber plan.

Although CenturyLink doesn't go as big on promotions, you can save some bucks off your fiber bill with this provider because it doesn't charge extra for a modem or installation.

Verizon Fios hooks new customers up with a bunch of stuff when they sign up for a qualifying fiber plan. Fios gigabit plans come with a Disney+ trial for 6 mos., a Motorola MoCA Adapter, a $50 XBox gift card, and the choice between a discounted Stream TV Soundbar or a free Stream TV device. 5G Home Plus customers get a $150 Verizon gift card.

You can get additional perks on any of Verizon's Fios fiber plans—see our section on Verizon deals for details.

And then there's Optimum, which offers a $200 or $100 prepaid Visa gift card if you sign up for a qualifying fiber plan. You also get a Wi-Fi extender, installation, and a Wi-Fi 6 Gateway (modem/router combo), all for no extra cost.

Alternately, new customers in East and West Optimum service areas get a two-year price-lock on their plan with no annual contract, free installation with online orders, no extra cost for equipment, and a Visa gift card worth $100 or $200.

Save money with the Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) helps low-income families afford an internet connection by subsidizing the cost of their internet bill. The ACP provides $30 per month toward a household's internet bill, though households on Tribal land or high-cost areas might be eligible for enhanced support of up to $75 per month.

You may qualify for the ACP if at least one person in your household meets the following criteria:

  • Qualifies for the Lifeline Program
  • Is approved for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP)
  • Has received a Pell Grant in the current year
  • Is currently eligible for certain providers' low-income programs
  • Receives assistance through SNAP or WIC

This program replaces the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program that was instituted in 2021 to help those dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main differences between the two programs is that the monthly benefit has been reduced and some of the qualifications have changed. Families on WIC now qualify for the ACP, while a substantial loss of income in 2020 no longer qualifies a household for the program. The maximum income for qualifying households has also been increased from 135% of Federal Poverty Guidelines to 200%.
